【摘要】:Thistestmethodcoversthemeasurementoftheyieldstressandviscosityofengineoilsaftercoolingatcontrolledratesoveraperiodexceeding45htoafinaltesttemperaturebetween-10and-40?C.Theviscositymeasurementsaremadeatashearstressof525Paoverashearrateof0.4to15s.Theviscosityasmeasuredatthisshearstresswasfoundtoproducethebestcorrelationbetweenthetemperatureatwhichtheviscosityreachedacriticalvalueandborderlinepumpingfailuretemperatureinengines.ProcedureAofthistestmethodhasprecisionstatedforayieldrangefromlessthan35Pato210Paandapparentviscosityrangefrom4300to270000mPas.Thetestprocedurecandeterminehigheryieldstressandviscositylevels.Thistestmethodisapplicableforunusedoils,sometimesreferredtoasfreshoils,designedforbothlightdutyandheavydutyengineapplications.Italsohasbeenshowntobesuitableforuseddieselandgasolineengineoils.Theapplicabilitytopetroleumproductsotherthanengineoilshasnotbeendetermined.ThistestmethodusesthemilliPascalsecond(m?Pas)astheunitofviscosity.Forinformation,theequivalentunit,centiPoise(cP),isshowninparentheses.Thistestmethodcontaintwoprocedures:ProcedureAincorporatesseveralequipmentandproceduralmodificationsfromTestMethodD4684-02thathaveshowntoimprovetheprecisionofthetest,whileProcedureBisunchangedfromTestMethodD4684-02.Additionally,ProcedureAappliestothoseinstrumentsthatutilizethermoelectriccoolingtechnologyandthosethatuseindirectrefrigerationtechnologyofrecentmanufactureforinstrumenttemperaturecontrol.ProcedureBcanusethesameinstrumentsusedinProcedureAorthosecooledbycirculatingmethanol.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
